A Ready Bride?

Well, let me start by saying “thank you” for all your sweet comments! I did not anticipate such love and encouragement. I do like Marianne’s comment on using the site for short bible lessons and sharing prayer needs. Usually my thoughts from the LORD turn out to be bible lessons anyway (I just can’t help it!) but certainly feel free to share prayer requests as well. I am up for anything that will help build up the body of Christ!

Ok, so on to my first thought. I just got through watching the movie “One Night with the King” (The story of Esther) again. I absolutely love this movie. Aside from the fictional love story and a few other details, the movie is pretty close to the biblical text. It gives a beautiful picture of the Persian Empire as well as how God’s hand was on His people while Haman the Agagite fought to make the Jews extinct.

But, I want to get back to the love story. Although it was not biblical in the movie, there is just something about watching a king standing in a royal robe in all his splendor and majesty extending his hand in marriage to his bride, the queen that makes my hands sweat and my heart throb out of my chest. Could this be eternity set in my heart? I believe so.

Let’s look at scripture. Rev 19:16 says: On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords. According to scripture, This King, the Bridegroom is coming for His Bride. Rev 19:7 says: Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory, for the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.

Those who have placed their faith in Jesus are the Bride, also known as the church. We are preparing for a wedding. So, I leave you with this question before I make any further comments on this topic: In knowing that we await the return of an awesome and mighty King that will extend His hand and take us to an incredible wedding, how does a bride make herself ready? I welcome all your comments!

As a bride I know that there were many preparations --
but as the bride of Christ we must set our affections on our first true love and not on things of this world (Col 3). We must not grow weary in preparing for our bridegroom and we only do this by keeping our eyes and heart focused on the goal. Remaining in an intimate relationship on a daily basis allows that intimacy to grow even while we wait for Him. We get to know Him more and more. We clothe ourselves with a robe of righteousness and adorn ourselves in jewels of love, kindness, peace, patience, joy and long-suffereing... love you girl.

It has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure (1 John 3:2, 3).

How does a Bride make herself ready? One way I feel is through the process of santification. Ever since I was set apart and made a child of GOD, the Holy Spirit has been convicting me of my sins. Through the Power of the Holy Spirit, one day, I will stand before the Bridegroom and be His ready Bride!
