God ...That is such a convicting yet inspiring word! God spoke to my heart through that charge from Beth Moore. I was especially convicted by the lines, "Refuse the daily temptation/ To be absorbed in yourslef/ Take interest in others."

I recently had four weeks of prime opportunities to minister encouragement to a church friend of mine. Each and every day, I had a chance to bless her and to love on her through encouragement. Yet, I selfishly failed every opportunity. God showed me just how ugly my heart had become. I grieve the time I lost to help my friend. We don't always get a chance to repair the damage caused by our selfishness! All I could do was ask God to forgive me, and then write a note to my friend, apologizing for not being a better friend when she needed encouragement from me. I thank God for giving my friend a heart that is quick to forgive!

Dear Jesus, move me with compassion for the hurting. Give me Your strength that I may resist that all too appealing desire to be absorbed in myself. Enable me to have the same spirit of humility that was so integral to Christ's life on earth and to willingly, quickly, cheerfully put others first. Amen. ~JoyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
